A brief word regarding the first couple months of this thing:

1) Everyone who has submitted stuff has made cool stuff. I haven't heard anything I didn't enjoy.

2) I would like to hear more being done with the original samples. The spirit of the contest is that you use your imagination to warp the samples beyond recognition but that in some way your piece is still based on the original source material. The winning pieces are going to make the most inventive use of the provided fodder.

O.K. Here is how this thing works. I post a small number of audio samples which work together at on the firstish of every month. Y'all download them, make a piece of music based on them, and then upload your finished mix. I and a room full of Oompah Loompahs listen to every last one of them and pick a winner. The winner (and maybe a couple runners up) will be featured on the Engine website for the following month (2 months after the loop was made available). At the end of the year we will pick a winner from the previous year and they will win... Studio Time At Engine!!!  'uck yeah!

The prize will be 2 10 hour days at Engine with a staff engineer. You, the Winner, can use this time to record or mix whatever you please within the bounds of US, State, and local laws and ordinances; and within the confines of conventional decency as determined by society's arbiters of taste including but not restricted to Emily Post, Martha Stewart, Shaved Beaver Magazine, and the Republican Right. This prize is nontransferable and must be used within the calendar year it is awarded.

I wanna hear alot of cool shit this year!
